The Tenerife South Airport was inaugurated in 1978 from the Queen Sofia to whom it’s still entitled. The Airport known as “Tenerife Sur Reina Sofia” is located on a promontory in the sub-district of Granadilla de Abona, near the city of El Medano, in one of the most arid areas of Tenerife. For this reason this Airport became the main hub of the island providing an all year round connection with Europe. The "Tenerife South" (TFS) airport, with its 9.176.274 passengers of 2014, iso ne of the main airports of Spain.
The “Sur Reina Sofia di Tenerife Sud (TFS)” is mainly a charter airport open 365 days per year, 24 hours and it’s used by 150 airlines. The airport averages 100 flights a day.
