It is located about 20 km from Vienna near the town of Schwechat in the Wien-Umgebung district.
The airport has 2 terminals (T1 and T3) which are located close to each other.
HISTORY:
Vienna airport was inaugurated in 1938 and was initially used for military purposes. The hub was opened for civilian use in 1945 and a second runway was built in 1972.

Vienna airport is located roughly 20 km southeast of Austria's capital and the public transport is an easy way to get to the city center.

Train from Vienna airport to the city center:
Train is the fastest way to get to Vienna city centre. The railway station is only 5-minute walk from arrivals.
• City Airport Train (CAT): 16 min non-stop service between the airport and Wien Mitte railway station, next to St. Stephen's Cathedral.
Trains run every 30 minutes, every day (public holidays included) from 06:07am to 23:39pm.

A one-way ticket bought online costs €11 and a return ticket €19. Kids aged 0-14 travel free of charge.
If you buy the ticket at the airport the price is €12 and €21.
There are additional services such as the City Check-In, with baggage drop-off at the CAT Terminal Wien Mitte in the city center, so you can go directly to the boarding gate.

• S7 train: S-Bahn line connects the Vienna airport to Wien Mitte and Wien Praterstern railway station. The journey takes around 25 minutes, every day from 5:34am to 12:18am.
The ticket price is €4.20 for adults, kids aged 6-14 pay € 2.10.
• ICE (Intercity): Linz - St. Pölten - Vienna Central Station - Vienna airport. The ICE connects the airport to Vienna's central station in just 15 minutes. Trains run approximately every 30 minutes, from 6:33am to 11.03pm.
Bus from Vienna airport to the city center:
Vienna Airport Lines buses offer connections between Vienna Airport and Vienna city centre.
The bus stop is located at the exits of airport terminals and there are 3 different routes:
• Wien Morzinplatz/Schwedenplatz: 20 min bus ride away (24/7)
• Wien Donauzentrum (via VIC): 40 min bus ride away
• Wien Westbahnhof (via Hauptbahnhof): 40 min bus ride away

There are International bus lines that connect many European cities: Bratislava, Kosice, Budapest, Györ, Prague, Brünn.
